How the tables have turned (Jasper and Steven)

Feels weird to be posting something, but when Steven Universe doesn’t give you with feels the boost of the year then I don’t know.

So the thing about this pic is, I’m in the Jasper Squad and I have a huge weak spot for redemption arcs. And she still deserves it (in my personal opinion) just as much as Bismuth, not only because they have different perspectives of Rose and the Rebellion, but also out of their complexity as individual characters. (Like, they are too damn good to be thrown away and never to be seen again. So yeah, I believe that we will see Bismuth and Jasper again.) And Steven, bless his sweet and good soul, he wanted to help her, when she needed it most. Even, after she threatened to destroy his home. After she’d hurt him and his friends. After she held them all captive and wanted to take them to Homeworld and Yellow Diamond, he said: “Jasper, it’s okay, I’m here.”

And I’m just like: “Steven Universe. You are too good for this world.”    

And he was too good for Jasper, because she viewed that part of his character with his offering as mockery and as an act of manipulation and that made her furious at him.

But still, look at how those two changed! Their first meeting on the top left in “The Return” (Ep. 51. Aired on March 12, 2015) and their last encounter on the right bottom in “Earthlings” (Ep. 102. Aired on August 8, 2016). Time sure went by and their development as well (In a good sense!). I just wanted to capture that change and I am surprised that I actually colored them, because I barely color anything!
